What happened to Art if we didn’t get it?
I’ve been wondering for a decade and a half about why there’s silly pieces of arts so glorified, as a perfect example of overrating, Some of it were sold for hundreds of millions of dollars, but it wasn’t worth it to almost everyone i met, For me personally i couldn’t grasp it, didn’t get it, and it didn’t touch my feelings, so i asked my self is it due to the fame of its makers combined with a global cultural decline? Or it’s me who have a severe lack of artistic taste?
I understand there should be works made for the elite art audience wether it’s a cinematic piece introduces a new technique, new technology, or maybe an experiment deals with a psychological study or philosophical idea, it could be an abstract painting with new brushing techniques, but this types of works might be better labeled as experimental art, because sticking it in as pop art will only confuses people like me,
The bottom line is whatever we do we will consume it differently wether we liked it or not.
